Founded in Colorado in 2006, The Phoenix is a nonprofit organization that fosters a free sober active community for individuals recovering from a substance use disorder and those who choose to live a sober life. By leveraging the intrinsic power of physical activity and social connection, participants build confidence and find the support they need to live productive and fulfilling lives in recovery. The goal of The Phoenix is to help as many people as possible find a clear path to recovery, so we make every effort to remove any barriers (to include financial barriers) to getting involved with our community. Phoenix hosts FREE daily classes, where the only requirement to attend is at least 48 hours of continuous sobriety. Wellness-related programs include yoga, meditation, strength training, Dharma talks, game nights, and seasonal community events, among other activities. The Belmar location is the first (and so far only)
dedicated physical location in NJ.
